Awkwafina
American musician and actor Awkwafina debuted with sly songs that dealt with sexuality and racial identities with a boldly comedic perspective before increasing her presence in Hollywood. Nora Lum is the daughter of Chinese and Korean parents from Forest Hills Queens. The trumpet was Nora's first instrument. Alongside classical music and jazz, she started studying hip-hop when she was in her teens. In school, she concentrated on journalism and woman's studies. She was also a student of Mandarin for a while in Beijing. Following graduation, she decided to focus on music. In 2012, My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an online hit, and it was featured in her debut LP Yellow Ranger. Other viral hits included the queef, a body positive song and the winking NYC Bitche$ hometown tour. This track was directly linked with another Awkwafina project NYC a travel guide published in 2015. After having a great career as a singer, she took on the role of actor. Along with early series like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in movies such as Neighbors and Storks. In 2018, she landed several major roles like Dude Ocean's 8, or Crazy Rich Asians. Her EP came out, In Fina We Trust in June in the same year.
